We also have a baby on the way and wanted to keep her safe as well. We've had this on for about a month now and it's been working great. It didn't take long at all to install and I like the fact that it doesn't have the "cage look" like some of the other pet barriers I was looking at. I did a lot of research on this and the Highland one turned out to be a good deal. We installed the extension kit as well, although this is only needed if you have the back seats down. You don't need the extension kit if you're not planning to lower your back seat. The two bars that come with the original package will work fine.
